Woodland clearings are created when a tree falls. A gap in the canopy opens up, allowing more light to reach the forest floor. This enables plants, which have lain dormant under the shade of the former tree, to spring to life. Eventually, a new tree will grow tall and reach the canopy, and the cycle will start all over again.
This cycle of darkness and light, death and life is not just the story of woodlands, but our collective story. In moments of difficulty and struggle, there is also hope and opportunities for renewal.
At The Clearing, we hope to reconnect people to woodlands, and enable them to find space amongst the trees.
