Courses & Workshops
In partnership with crafts, art, forestry and wellbeing practitioners, we are launching a programme of courses and workshops, focused on providing woodland-based heritage skills and experiences.
Woodland management and coppice crafts demonstrations
As part of the management of our small woodland, we brought in local forestry experts to help us with timber extraction and processing. Our local horselogger, Crunchie and his two cob horses, Twinkle and Ivy, helped us drag out the timber we had produced from a winter’s worth of thinning and coppicing, whilst Pete, our local coppice craftsman, demonstrated how we can use the timber produce to make charcoal and wood sculptures. By supporting local woodland-based practitioners, and offering public demonstrations of traditional woodland management and coppice crafts skills, we hope to raise awareness of and increase public engagement with the heritage of small woodlands.
